Object Description

This time-lapse movie depicts neural tube closure in an axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) embryo.  Fusion of the two neural folds into one neural tube can be seen in the anterior region of the embryo.   This portion of the neural tube will form the brain and the remainder will form the spinal cord.
